Instagram is a great place to build awareness about your ‘Brand’. Facebooks organic reach is down by around 63% over the last 4 years whereas Instagram’s organic reach is up by 115%. Instagram users who regularlry engage with brands is more than double than Facebook.Engagement per Instagram follower is also around 58% higher.

Also Instagram has a higher order value of $65 compared to the $55 of Facebook.

The most startling figure that I uncovered  was that of Brand reach. Brands on Instagram reach 100% of their followers whilst Facebook can only manage 6%.

A lot of marketers tend to favour Facebook with 93% using Facebook whilst only 36% are using Instagram.

So, with less competition, a more engaged audience and a 100% organic reach you would do well to focus your efforts on Instagram.

A lot of marketers shy away as they feel that they do not know where to start.

Instagram is Visual!

Your brand should be instantly recognizable. They should be consistent in style and quality. You should not overcrowd your images with text.

If you do this well your brand will be immediately recognizable.

So make sure that you don’t simply snap a picture of your product and add a filter to it.

You can even use images of your products reviews.

You can also use the same images and upload them to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc. These Social Media sites may have different audiences but they all love great images. Make sure that you optimize your images for each Social Media site.

Instagram allows you to use up to 30 hashtags per post. Remember to use them. Try adding 5 to 10 on your post and see how many new followers start following you.

Instagrams search tool is a great way of checking which hashtags are relevant.

Don’t make the mistake of trying to sell in all of your posts. Make them entertaining so that your audience enjoys seeing them.

You can partner with other businesses on Instagram and help to promote each other for free. This usually happens when the other business has roughly the same amount of followers.

You can pay bigger businesses to promote you. This is a great way of gaining a large number of followers quickly. If you do try this make sure to ask them to include a strong call to action in the shout-out, to follow your account.

You should also repost images posted by your customers that are related to your brand on your personal feed, making sure that you tag them. They will appreciate your gesture and it’s a great way of showing that you have a lot of happy customers.

Make sure to engage with your followers and other instagramers. Instagram is a Social platform and you have to be Sociable.

Links in your posts are not clickable so you must take full advantage of your Bio. Many businesses miss out on this opportunity, linking to their home page or similar. You should be changing this link regularly and point it to relevant promotion pages, landing pages, new products etc.

Well that is about it. I hope that this has helped you to realize that you should be adding Instagram to your marketing efforts and how to approach it. If you want to find out more about moneytizing Instagram you should check out the link below
